Building a Healthier, Safer Workforce

Wellbeing is central to how we look after our teams. We want people to feel supported, able to speak up early and confident that help is easy to access. Our approach combines practical resources, trained support and everyday habits that make a real difference at work and beyond.

To build a healthy workforce, we take a proactive, three-tiered approach

Protecting mental and physical health

Our approach brings together practical innovation, sustainability and social value to deliver infrastructure that performs well and supports the places it serves. We focus on long-term outcomes, responsible decision-making and doing the right thing for people, communities and environments connected to our work.

Prevent (Culture)

We promote working practices and everyday behaviours that support mental and physical wellbeing, helping reduce stress, fatigue and risk before issues arise.

Promote (Awareness)

We build understanding through training, communication and visible resources so people know what support is available and feel able to speak up early.

Provide (Intervention)

We ensure access to confidential, practical support including trained Mental Health First Aiders, counselling services and specialist advice when needed.

Confidential help, trained support and people you can talk to

We provide a range of mental health resources so colleagues can access the right support at the right time, whether they’re dealing with work-related pressures or challenges outside of work.

Confidential counselling service

All employees have access to a free, independent and confidential counselling helpline. Support is available for issues including bereavement, family concerns, financial stress, anxiety and workplace challenges.

Mental Health First Aiders

We have trained Mental Health First Aiders across the business, many available across extended hours. Contact details are displayed across sites and offices, and conversations are always confidential.

Lighthouse charity support

Through our sponsorship of the Lighthouse Charity, employees, contractors and immediate family members can access mental, physical and financial wellbeing support, including a 24/7 helpline, live chat, self-help resources and workshops.

Wellbeing communications

Our Action for Wellbeing Team shares regular guidance and updates throughout the year, encouraging healthy habits, early conversations and awareness of available support.

Helping people stay active, healthy and safe

We support physical wellbeing through practical benefits, training and facilities that help people look after their health day to day.

Medicash healthcare plan

All employees are covered by the Solo Gold Medicash plan, funded by the company, with support for dental, optical and physiotherapy costs, plus access to retail and leisure discounts.

Learning and development access

Employees have access to e-learning modules covering health, safety and wellbeing, including stress management, mental health awareness and safe working practices.

Onsite wellbeing resources

At our Heathrow office, colleagues can access Peloton bikes, an outdoor gym, blood pressure monitoring facilities, and regular yoga and fitness classes as part of the onsite wellbeing programme.

Everyday healthy habits

We encourage simple, sustainable habits such as taking breaks, staying hydrated, moving regularly and stepping away from screens where possible.

New construction

Clear, practical support tailored to operational roles.

Our site teams face unique pressures, and we provide dedicated wellbeing support that reflects the realities of working in live environments.

Looking out for you

If you’re part of our team or interested in working with us, we’re here to support wellbeing at every level.
