Everyone Home Safe, Every Day
Safety underpins how we plan work, make decisions and operate on site. Clear standards, strong supervision and personal responsibility ensure risks are identified early and controlled properly, so everyone affected by our work gets home safely.

At Associated Asphalt, we believe that no job is so urgent that it cannot be done safely. Our leadership team sets clear expectations for safe decision making and ensures that every employee, from director to operative, is empowered to stop work if conditions are unsafe
- How we manage health and safety
Ensuring a safe return for everyone
Health and safety management is fundamental to how we operate. Our priority is to protect our workforce, supply chain and the public, and to ensure everyone returns home safely at the end of each day.
We manage health and safety through clear systems, competent leadership and consistent site level controls. This ensures risks are identified early, responsibilities are understood and safe working practices are applied across all operations.

- Health & safety management
Always learning, always improving
Certified to BS ISO 45001:2018, our management system ensures full compliance with CDM and Health and Safety at Work Act regulations across every project. We apply these rigorous standards consistently to all sites, using regular audits and reviews to drive a culture of continuous improvement and total accountability.
ISO 45001 certified
We operate a comprehensive Health and Safety Management System certified to BS ISO 45001:2018, providing a consistent and auditable framework across all activities.
Legal compliance
All works are delivered in compliance with the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations and the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, alongside client and project-specific requirements.
Consistent application
Our systems apply to both fixed and transient sites, ensuring the same standards and controls are implemented wherever we operate.
Audit and review
Performance is monitored through inspections, audits and management review, supporting continuous improvement and accountability.
- Safety assurance in practice
Excellence through safety assurance
Our ISO 45001 certified management system ensures strict legal and CDM compliance across all project sites. This framework is driven by mandatory training, proactive hazard reporting, and independent audits to maintain a culture of accountability and continuous improvement throughout our operations
01. Competence and training
All employees and operatives are required to demonstrate appropriate competence for their role. Training needs are identified, monitored and reviewed to ensure skills remain current and relevant to the work being undertaken.
02. Near hazard reporting
Teams are encouraged to report near hazards, unsafe conditions and potential risks as soon as they are identified. Reports are reviewed, actions agreed and lessons shared to prevent incidents before they occur.
03. Monitoring performance
Health and safety performance is tracked through site inspections, audits, incident reporting and management review. This information is used to identify trends and improve how work is planned and delivered.
04. External assurance
Our approach is supported by independent audits, client oversight and external assessment, providing confidence that standards are applied consistently across all projects.
- Occupational health and wellbeing
Beyond protection our commitment to health
We take the wellbeing and mental health of our employees and those working on our sites seriously.
Role specific occupational health screenings are carried out for our staff, ensuring that health considerations are identified and managed early. Support continues as part of our wider approach to safe working and includes, bespoke training, assessment, internal and external support networks.
Mental health is recognised as an important part of workplace safety. Several members of the management team are trained Mental Health First Aiders, with further training planned. Our Occupational Health Policy includes specific guidance on managing stress, and we are signatories to the Time to Change Pledge.
